We ticked off one of my big bucket list items this trip with a visit to Niagra Falls. I have been on a tour bus in the middle of the night a couple of times across the border next to the falls but this is the first time I have been able to visit. The wait and the nearly 2000 miles of road tripping were worth it. They are in a word AMAZING!
I had heard lots of comments about seeing them from the Canadian side because the USA is not as good. Don’t be fooled, go to both sides. The views are completely different but the USA side gives you an up close and personal view that you don’t get from Canada. You also get to see the Niagra river before it feeds into the American Falls and Canadian Horseshoe Falls. My advice, if you are going to make the effort to go there, go to both sides.
I had no idea that it was more than one waterfall. When you look at photos you can only see one part at a time which gives you the impression that it is one waterfall. The falls span across a wide area which when you walk around on the USA side take you across a few bridges and down some walking trails. Make sure you put aside a couple of hours and pack your walking shoes.
They are really gorgeous, definitely one of the wonders of the world <3
