Showing Off Sydney

A sunny Autumn day is the perfect time to take a tourist trip around Sydney and the Harbour. Maybe if I woke up to look at the harbour every day I might take it for granted but as I am not that lucky each time I do get to spend the day around it I am reminded just how beautiful it is and in my opinion the most beautiful harbour in the world. (Well the most beautiful one I have seen so far).

Dinner in China Town and lunch at Watson’s Bay are my top 2 “to do” when in Sydney tips. Take a ferry from Circular Quay across to Watsons Bay and enjoy 30 mins gliding across the beautiful harbour looking at all the mansions along the water. Once you get there you have the choice of a couple of places to eat but my favourite is Watson’s Bay hotel. If you are looking for something slightly fancier try Doyle’s Seafood Restaurant.

There are always interesting people around and on this sunny April day we got to see a few. From bikinini shoots on the sand to iphone shoots in the pub. Everyone is relaxed and friendly and the food is not bad either.

If you have a little extra time you could take a ferry ride to Manly or Toronga Zoo. Another great ferry ride is from Circular Quay to Pyrmont or Darling Harbour as the ferry takes you right under the big coat hanger and past Luna Park. From Pyrmont or Darling Harbour it not too far to China Town for dinner, a walk if you are fit or a ride on the light rail if you are wearing heals. Also, no visit to Sydney would be complete without a trip to the iconic Bondi Beach too. Still time to spare? Then head to the Blue Mountains for more spectacular scenery.

If you are planning a tourist trip to our beautiful city make sure you give yourself a few days as there are so many places to experience. We finished our day with a drink at the Opera Cafe as the sun set over the Harbour with the bridge as the perfect vista.

  1. Hi Liz
The photographs of our amazing harbour are stunning. I think it is the best in the world . I love Autumn in Sydney with our warm balmy days and cooler nights – it’s just perfect.
I live out near you and I too love a day in the city but I think the area we live in is hard to beat for scenery and serenity.
    Love your photography .
