To make the most of the holiday break we decided to head to Tasmania on Friday night. It was after 9pm when we landed and so by the time we got our rental car and checked into our hotel we were looking for a late dinner option.
Most places had either closed or were closing but we were lucky enough that the very kind staff kept the kitchen open at Susie Luck’s for us. The staff were all very friendly and the suggested dishes were outstanding. One of the best meals I have ever eaten. I can highly recommend eating there if you are ever in Hobart and enjoy Asian inspired food. We will be going back when we return at the end of our trip around the apple Isle.

Our main reason for flying down on Friday night was so we could fit both Mona and the Salamanca Markets in on Saturday.
We made sure we were on the first ferry to Mona which is a great option if you don’t like big crowds or to line up.
Arriving at the wharf you board a James Bond inspired craft complete with crew dressed in overalls like the baddies from a Bond movie ready to take us out to their fort on a island. I’m not sure why but some of the seating are sheep but anyway just go with it.
When you arrive that’s exactly what it looks like – a baddies lair. You are first faced with traversing the 99 steps to arrive in a court yard of artwork including a trampoline which you can use when museum staff are supervising.
A throw back to the mirror room at Luna Park as you enter and then after a quick entrance you make your way down the spiral staircase or ride the glass lift to the bottom floor.
There is a strange array of “artworks” from a poo machine to a tattooed man.
I’m the first to admit I am not a Gallery girl but the experience is worth the trip out. Plus there is a bar on the cool boat.
I heard plenty about how great these are and was not disappointed. We treated ourselves to a wallaby burrito and I got some of my favourite lavender hand cream. There’s plenty to look at and try and taste even a few gin stalls that offer tasting.
