Last weekend I was lucky enough to be invited along to the Northern Photographic Federation’s (NPF) annual conference. I was blown away by the caliber of all the speakers, some of whom filled in at late notice due to another speaker being unavailable. Everyone who spoke was either a published author or a mulit-award winning photographer. As well as the presenters there were exhibitors from Nikon, Cannon, Olympus and many more.
Clare and David Oliver were extremely entertaining and informative not only during their presentation but also throughout the weekend. They were happy to have a chat and share their knowledge finishing the weekend with two natural light workshops which they genourously ran. David even showed off his expertise as a model. I am very excited for my very good friend Corina who won one of the gift vouchers provided by David Oliver for a one on one workshop at his property in the Hunter Valley. She is in for a treat if the short 45 minute workshop with 20 people is anything to go on. David Oliver Personalised Workshops
Across the weekend we were entertained and informed by a number of speakers. Jo Wallace talked to us about her book Humans of Newtown. It was intriguing listening to how she developed the project from a blog about her home town and the people in the community to a book. The project has brought the community together and given a voice to some who are often overlooked by mainstream media.
The last speaker of the event was Matt Horspool who spoke about his life as a professional photographer and the journey to that. His passion is travel photography and he has documented some amazing places from an unique point of view.
A big thanks to Brad Le Brocque for the invitation and for a wonderful weekend that he organised and ran. Anyone who lives in the area who is a keen photographer should join one of the 8 groups that make up the NPF if they want to take their photography to the next level in a safe and nurturing environment.
There was also a beautiful reverse sunset as a perfect end to the weekend.
